Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas

Southwestern University is located in Georgetown, Texas and is the oldest university in Texas. Founded in 1840, it was originally called Texas University when the first classes began on October 3, 1843 but changed to the current name of Southwestern in 1875.  It is a private, highly selective (1,300 students total) four-year liberal arts college that is home to the Brown College of Arts and Sciences and Sarofim School of Fine Arts.  The campus is immaculate and beautiful, to say the least.  The staff that I saw there--groundskeepers mainly, due to school being out for the summer--were also very friendly during my visit.
Here are some of my favorite photos of the day...

The walkway in front of the Sarofim School of Fine Arts.

The detail work on one of the buildings at Southwestern University.

The very serene shady path surrounding the Cullen Mall--a large grassy area at the center of the university.

The Lois Perkins Chapel, built in 1950.

A view of the cross at the front of the Chapel.

The old Bell at Southwestern University.

An unusual sculpture, The Monstrance For A Grey Horse stands prominently at one end of the Cullen Mall.
